Day 63: Peace
Water
So, if you have been following me on Twitter or Facebook you know that we face a bunch of different challenges from day to day. Tomorrow brings one of the largest challenges we are currently facing: our legal battle to be able to adopt Annastacia, who we have had since birth. If this story is new to you then feel free to go back through our blog entries and learn more about it. Tomorrow is day 2 of court, where—God willing—we will finish up the trial phase of this process and then return on a different date to hear the verdict. To say the least, this process has been grueling and incredibly challenging to us, to our dear children, and to all those who have grown to love Anna that are a part of our lives.
In the midst of this waiting, that thing which has been sweetest to us is peace, the sort of peace that is beyond description, a peace only God can give. I rest in knowing that regardless of the outcome we will rest in God's hands, and his peace will sustain us even in the darkest hours. I know this because he has already proven completely faithful even through the death of our twins, now almost 3 years ago. Echoing through my heart is one of my favorite hymns. Below I have typed the words to the first verse of the song. To those who are praying for us, thank you.
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
